Briefly...
Michael Chaikin has been making sculptures for over 20 years. Before that he was a doctor of medicine.He went first to Eastbourne Art College in 1986 for Foundation Studies then graduated from Falmouth Art College in 1990 with a BA in Fine Art
He lived in Brighton where he joined Red Herring Studios and then went on to teach sculpture at Hawkesbay Universty in New Zealand before moving to Cornwall in 1999
He has had exhibitions in Hamburg, Paris , London, and Brighton
and more recently a one man show at the Campden Art Gallery in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire. and at art fairs around the country: Affordable art fair, Chelsea, etc etc
He has appeared on TV and his work has appeared on garden programs featuring outdoor sculptures, Blue Peter, Discovery channel and many more.
Some of his work is on permanent display at the Eden Project
He has made pieces for theatre companies and built sets for ForkbeardFantasy and Kneehigh Theatre companies as well as designing and making props for various films.
His outdoor sculptures and fountains have appeared at Hampton Court Flower show winning a silver medal for the stand
His work is in private collections including that of Ellen Macarthur the round the world yachtswoman and many more.
His continues to make sculptures in Cornwall where he lives with his wife and daughter
